Open championship 2012 – Battle for the Claret Jug

As we know that this tournament is oldest major golf tournament in the world. And it is only major golf tournament which is organised outside United States.

This tournament is, hence very prestigious and it is expertly administered by Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, well known as R&A.

This championship is organised at nine classic venues in Scotland and England, alternately every year. In 2011, the Open Championship was arranged in Royal St. George’s Golf Club in Kent . Everybody is very excited, because in 2012 the venue is Royal Lytham and St Annes Golf Club, Lytham St Annes, Lancashire.

It is a good chance for the prestigious golf club to successfully organize the championship and club’s vast natural beauty can be presented to the world. And for the people from Lancashire, it is a new reason to cheer because they are going to watch the champion golfers play in front of them. It will very exciting and breathtaking for the fans but very difficult competition for the players to achieve the prestigious Claret Jug.

It will provide good platform for investment. And definately, the tourism in the Lancashire will be boosted and provide various employment opportunities. The Open Championship event will be held from 15 July to 22 July 2012.  The week will be a good chance for the young players to prove themselves in international golf but the the senior players will be the real excitement to watch.

Last year’s champion, Darren Clarke will be one of the favourites and will be starting at the top of the Open Championship leaderboard . Phil Mickelson from USA, Dustin Johnson from USA, Thomas Bjorn from Denmark, etc are other players who will battle for the Claret Jug. Darren Clarke will be aiming for his second consecutive win and huge prize money.

So keep your fingers crossed, and watch the players creating new records in the history of the game.
